5 Potential Snooki Boy Toys

Filed under: TV — Tags: Christine Tarbet @ 9:52 pm

I, like you, was shocked and saddened to hear that Snooki broke up with her latest paramour Emilio Masella.  If those two crazy kids can’t make it, then who can?  But if I know Snooki (and I think I do), she won’t stay single for long.  There are plenty of trout pouters in the sea.  But who should Snooki hooki up with next?  Here are my top five contenders. Happy 50th Judge Mathis

Filed under: TV — Tags: Richard Rushfield @ 3:42 pm

Entertainment Inferno is proud to salute one of the icons of America’s shadow judiciary, the great Judge Mathis of the Judge Mathis show, for years the thinking man’s Wapner.

With both Simon Cowell and Judge Mathis having now passed their 50th, the aging of America’s shadow judges is certainly an issue for us all to consider, although we can surely celebrate our mock courts now be governed by men of all the greater wisdom and experience.

His honor, we have learned, celebrated his half-century at the Steven Ross Theater in Burbank last night. You weren’t invited? Don’t despair, pictures follow after the jump.

Could Team Katie Actually Win It All?

Filed under: American Idol, TV — Tags: Richard Rushfield @ 11:10 pm

It seems a lifetime ago when the Team Katie movement began in the winter of our auditions; a young woman of spunk and charm, singing with the power of an ancient soul conjured thoughts that a McPhee or Digarmo might be upon us, a young singer in the classic vein of the great American songbook.

After the stunning introduction, Team Katie hit a rocky patch, as she was hammered on every side during the semi-finals, the victim of such contradictory advice from the judges that Ellen was actually driven to mock their randomness. Since then, slowly but surely, under the radar the Connecticut crooner has, climbed her way out of the basement into the solid middle tier.

Idol Inferno: The Magnus Militia Counts Down to Victory

Filed under: American Idol, TV — Tags: Richard Rushfield @ 11:04 am

According to the the spoiler lists floating around, tonight Siobhan Magnus will make history singing either Paint It Black or Midnight Rambler on Rolling Stones night.

Although we vastly prefer Paint It Black to, pretty much to any song ever written, from a purely tactical perspective, we’d have to advise that Rambler would be a better direction for this campaign.  While privately, you can’t go too goth for us, playing the goth card too heavily has not been a winning strategy for any Idol gal.  Adam  Lambert can get away with such things (or at least get to second place) but the tweens are unforgiving of gothiness in a lady…and the wrath of the cougars is of course, ferocious.

We need only point to the fate of the last Idol contestant to take on Paint It Black, the pioneer of Idol rocker ladies, the great Gina Glocksen.

The Best of the Worst: The Apple

Filed under: Film, TV — Tags: , Darren Herczeg @ 2:22 pm

Welcome to Part One of Entertainment Inferno’s series dedicated to honoring the classics of horrendous cinema.

Nigel’s Masterpiece (Sorry Mary)

The Apple. Some of you may have heard of it, some of you not, but trust me: this is one of the worst movies ever made. It’s also one of the best. When this masterpiece opened, producers handed out free copies of the soundtrack LP to the audience. Well before the final reel, these same LPs would end up in a heap, tossed with righteous anger at a screen audacious enough to play what audiences at the time considered nothing short of a crime against humanity.

Idol in Review: Siobhan for President

Filed under: American Idol, TV — Tags: Richard Rushfield @ 2:35 am

It’s been a long, cold trek through the wilderness for Idol Nation. After last year’s verdict, we were left a house divided, the vote split along the most contentious partisan lines in our history. Conservative vs, liberal.  Young vs old.  Devout vs. atheist. Cougar vs tween.  Such wounds do not heal overnight and indeed, out there in the bush, many warriors of Season 8 continue to re-fight the No Boundaries campaign.

This hasn’t always been the way for Idol Nation.  Throughout most of recent history, we have arrived at consensus choices. Carrie and Jordin were vastly seen as the favorites of their year and the David Cook victory, while bitter to some, did not open Pandora’s box.

So as we entered a new season the question loomed; would season nine be the year when we healed the wounds that had torn our house asunder or would this season only pour salt into the rift and rub it in deeper, with the war of brother against brother raging on till the dying of the light where the sedge has withered and no birds sing.
